Crested Butte Nordic Center pulls out all the stops for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing adventure in January.
- A Learn to Skate Ski for Free! clinic will be offered at 1 p.m. on Jan. 7.
- Locals and visitors alike are welcome to participate in Citizens' Races on Jan. 9 (20K classic) and Jan. 16 (20K skate). Participants must register at the Nordic Center by 9:30 a.m. on race day. The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for ages 8 - 17, and free for ages 7 and under.
- Put on your Nordic skis or snowshoes to attend Brunch at the Yurt on Jan. 17 and enjoy gourmet cuisine prepared by Maxwell's Steakhouse from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person for adults and $10 for kids (under age 12). Ski passes and rentals are extra.
- The Full Moon Ski & Snowshoe Dinner at the Yurt on Jan. 30 features an easy moonlit journey to Magic Meadows for a gourmet dinner prepared by Maxwell's Steakhouse at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $60 per person, which includes a trail pass and equipment rentals.

Crested Butte Center for the Arts has a culture-packed January planned with concerts and dining opportunities not to be missed.
- The Center welcomes the Drew Emmitt Band to the stage on Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. Band Members Eric Throin, Steve Sandifer and Tyler Grant round out this four-piece ensemble and contribute to what will be far more than just a bluegrass concert.
- On Jan. 10, the Center's "Taste of the Town" Tour de Forks progressive dinner begins at 5 p.m. at the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum and continues on to Marchitelli's Gourmet Noodle, Soupcon Bistro and Le Bosquet for an unforgettable meal.
- Grab the kids and head to the Center on Jan. 16 for "The Firehouse Circus" presented by Manitou Arts Theatre. This one-clown circus performed by Jim Jackson will tickle the funny bones of children and adults alike. Tickets are $8 for kids and $12 for adults.
- The Boulder Acoustic Society, appearing Jan. 29, is a talented young quartet specializing in all things acoustic: fiddles, ukuleles, accordions and more. Singer/songwriter Jason McNiff will open for the performance. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Crested Butte's Adaptive Sports Center is offering disabled individuals several opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreation in January, including two camps.
- High Adventure Weekend: Ice and Ski on Jan. 14 - 17 combines two days of one-on-one ski instruction at Crested Butte Mountain Resort followed by two days of guided ice climbing in the San Juan Mountains. This is a great camp for people who are able to walk or hike short distances, and a family member or friend can join in the fun.
- Sit Ski Fiesta on Jan.29 - 31 involves learning the basics of biskiing, dualskiing, monoskiing and ski biking or taking already solid skiing skills to the next level. An optional half day of sit-down Nordic skiing is available on the last day.

Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) not only offers world-class skiing and riding, there's snowshoeing, tubing, a new adventure center, dining, shopping and great events.
- Join Olympian and local resident Wendy Fisher for a truly unique Family Extreme Clinic on Jan. 16 - 17. Fisher and her team of instructors will teach families how to maximize their time together on the mountain, while focusing on each participant's individual needs on various areas of the mountain including the extremes. The cost is $399 per person.
- The Cosmic Ski Mountaineering Race - Randonnee Rally on Jan. 30 requires competitors to ski their way up, down and across the ski area's legendary Extreme Limits terrain.
