July 19 USA Pro Cycling Challenge Club Ride

Where: Crested Butte Community School in Crested Butte, Colorado

Grab your friends and come join us in celebrating the inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge Colorado stage race with a friendly club ride in Crested Butte sponsored by Alpine Orthopaedics.  The proposed route will be the ‘queen stage' of USA PCC club rides - including a small bit of dirt road just like the race itself on Cottonwood Pass! 

Riders of all kinds are welcome and we will arrange for two groups on the road.  The first group (the Red Lantern group), for those looking for a fun social ride, will keep everyone together with a "no-drop" rule.  The ride length will be approximately 40 miles.  Some riders from this group will turn around at Crested Butte South and return to Town (approx. 15 miles), giving you plenty of ride options depending on your ability.

For the ‘race crazed' fast group (the Yellow Jersey group),   we'll have five sprint points and a King of the Mountain title on top of Jack's Cabin.  The fast group will be competing for nothing more than bragging rights - there are no official titles or prizes with this club ride. This group will also re-gather after sprint lines and on top of Jacks Cabin before heading back for the final sprint point at the Town limit sign.  Anyone left behind at the end of this ride can easily slow up for the Red Lantern group rolling behind.

There will be a USA PCC schwag bag to the first 50 riders to show up, and a parade lap around the Town of Crested Butte to duplicate the USA PCC stage 1 course.   This is strictly a ‘club ride' in that there will be no road closure, escorts, entry fees or prizes. 

After the ride, we'll gather on the Brick Oven patio for beer, pizza, bragging - and a special post-race competition involving stationary bikes and video projection screens!
