Bluegrass in Paradise a highlight of this July 3 - Aug. 14 music extravaganza

The 2011 Crested Butte Music Festival (CBMF) will feature more than 100 performers in concert halls, barns, churches and stunning mountain homes and outdoor stages from July 3 - Aug. 14, making it one of the most exciting festivals of its kind.  Over six weeks, there is something for everyone, from opera and symphony to bluegrass and gypsy jazz.

The year 2011 promises to be one of the most exciting seasons of biking that Gunnison County has ever witnessed.  Not only has the Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley been selected for a stage finish and a stage start for the first-ever USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Crested Butte is one of three stops on the new Leadville 100 Qualifying Series and is the start for Ride the Rockies, which has chosen Crested Butte or Gunnison as one of its stops 12 times since 1987.

Fun runs, relays and races on tap for April - December

The trails that have made Gunnison County, Colorado, world renowned for mountain bikers also are a haven for runners. From mid-May, when snows gradually begins receding to reveal a carpet of wildflowers, to early October, when the aspen have concluded their stunning fall show, trails in the area always astound with their beauty and variety. Yet, the running season stretches even further with the new Sage-Grouse 5k and 10k on April 9, new Living Journeys Half-Marathon on July 30 and a New Year's Eve resolution run on Dec. 31.
