Bluegrass in Paradise a highlight of this July 3 - Aug. 14 music extravaganza

The 2011 Crested Butte Music Festival (CBMF) will feature more than 100 performers in concert halls, barns, churches and stunning mountain homes and outdoor stages from July 3 - Aug. 14, making it one of the most exciting festivals of its kind.  Over six weeks, there is something for everyone, from opera and symphony to bluegrass and gypsy jazz.

An action-packed month gets the season rolling with Restaurant Week, fun and great deals

Late spring and early summer are glorious days of blue skies, pleasant temperatures, trail openings and welcoming back visitors for fair-weather activities in Gunnison County, Colo.  To showcase the action-packed happenings of June, the Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley has teamed up to present the fifth annual "June in the Rockies." 

Great food and Colorado's Gunnison County go hand in hand (or hand to mouth!).  Not only do Crested Butte, Mt. Crested Butte, Gunnison, Almont and Marble have more than 80 restaurants, the valley has a calendar of culinary events sure to please any food fanatic.

Gunnison County knows how to roll out the carpet for summer and fall fun with an amazing array of one-of-a-kind festivals that reflect the lifestyle, natural beauty and Western friendliness of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. 

31^st Annual Crested Butte Bike Week, Crested Butte & Mt. Crested Butte, June 23 - 26

With hundreds of miles of scenic waterways and approximately 3 million new fish released each year from the state's Roaring Judy Fish Hatchery, Gunnison County is an excellent choice for a fishing vacation.

Blue Mesa Lake, Taylor Reservoir and Gunnison, East, Taylor and Crystal Rivers are among the many exceptional habitats for kokanee salmon, northern pike, mountain whitefish and brown, rainbow, cutthroat, brook and Mackinaw trout.  In fact, the county holds state records for brown, rainbow and lake trout and kokanee salmon.  There also is a plethora of fishing events in summer and fall and great deals on fishing packages. 

Epic calendar of Summer/Fall 2011 biking events announced

The year 2011 promises to be one of the most exciting seasons of biking that Gunnison County has ever witnessed.  Not only has the Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley been selected for a stage finish and a stage start for the first-ever USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Crested Butte is one of three stops on the new Leadville 100 Qualifying Series and is the start for Ride the Rockies, which has chosen Crested Butte or Gunnison as one of its stops 12 times since 1987.

Four races & rides kick off the summer over Memorial Day weekend - May 28 - 29

Located at 7,700 feet and home to a large number of adventure athletes and Olympians that compete across the globe, Gunnison, Colo. offers legendary trails and climbing routes.  To kick off the summer right and showcase the terrain, Rage in the Sage weekend features two days of biking, running and rock climbing over Memorial Day Weekend on May 28 - 29. 
 

Fun runs, relays and races on tap for April - December

The trails that have made Gunnison County, Colorado, world renowned for mountain bikers also are a haven for runners. From mid-May, when snows gradually begins receding to reveal a carpet of wildflowers, to early October, when the aspen have concluded their stunning fall show, trails in the area always astound with their beauty and variety. Yet, the running season stretches even further with the new Sage-Grouse 5k and 10k on April 9, new Living Journeys Half-Marathon on July 30 and a New Year's Eve resolution run on Dec. 31.

With 310 inches of snow already this winter and some of the best ski and snowboard conditions in Colorado, many great deals and events will wrap up the season in style.
