You hear
about environmental problems nearly every day: climate change, invasive
species, water and air pollution and amphibian and pollinator decline.
And you hear various organizations talking about what we need to do for the
future of the planet. But how can we begin to understand and address
these problems if we do not how our ecosystems work?
With one-of-a-kind
resources and over 80 years of achievement, the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory
is uniquely positioned to build an understanding of a single ecosystem that
will inform how we know the world. The RMBL's focus on creating an intellectual
community dedicated to the fundamental understanding of biological processes in
the natural environment has led to cleaner air, better predictions of how
the world is changing, critical insights into the effects of man-made chemicals
on human health, and a deeper understanding of plant pollination critical to
the world's food supply. .
The RMBL also provides
community programs throughout the summer including a Kids Nature Camp and adult
activities through Exploration Experiences; Your Passport to the Natural World.
Through exploration of meadows, forests, and mountains we will learn about our
fascinating natural world. In Kids Nature Camp games, hikes, crafts, songs and
scavenger hunts make learning easy and fun in our spectacular mountain
setting!!
Various other events and
activities throughout the summer include birding, wild flower tours, Historic
Preservation Dinner, Music at Gothic, RMBL 4th of July 1/3 Marathon,
weekly talks and much more.
