Mountain Biking in Crested Butte

Gunnison County, Colorado plays home to the bustling towns of Mt. Crested Butte, Crested Butte, Almont, and Gunnison, nestled among almost two million acres of pristine wilderness in southwest Colorado. The surrounding wilderness offers many things to do for those interested in outdoor pursuits or scenic drives, but for those looking for arts, culture, and history will appreciate the abundance of things to do as well.

Outdoor Activities

Winter sports enthusiasts know the area for its world-class alpine skiing and snowboarding at Crested Butte Mountain Resort as well as incredible snowmobiling, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and ice fishing. Gunnison-Crested Butte is also a haven for outdoor summer activities. In the warmer months, visitors can choose from hiking, climbing, mountain biking, road biking, boating, sailing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, camping, rock climbing, and horseback riding. Our public lands, including Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Hartman Rocks Recreation Area in the south and the Gunnison National Forest in the north, provide the open space for all of these great adventures.
