
Getting HereGunnison County, Colorado, is located just west of the Continental Divide in the southwest portion of the state, within the Gunnison National Forest and the Elk Mountain Range. The area is accessible by land via U.S. Highway 50 and Colorado 135, and is convenient to Colorado's major cities.
Gunnison County is also accessible by air via the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC), located inside Gunnison's city limits, approximately 30 miles from Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte. The airport is serviced by three major air carriers in winter: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. The airport is also accessible to private and charter jet flights. United Airlines offers flights to Gunnison-Crested Butte year-round.

For the convenience of our visitors, an airport shuttle meets every incoming flight, and offers transportation between the airport, Gunnison, Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte lodging areas. There is a fee for this service, and required reservations can be made by calling Alpine Express at (800) 822-4844 or (970) 641-5074. Once in Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte, a continuously running FREE shuttle, Mountain Express, takes guests to points of interest, local shops and restaurants. There also is a free bus operated by the Gunnison Valley Rural Transportation Authority (RTA) that runs between Gunnison, Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte.
